DAM is all about saving time, right?
While DAM can also reduce costs, increase revenue and generally make your life easier, in my experience most people use DAM because it saves them time. In a recent survey of Portfolio Server users, we discovered that DAM users saved 2.69 hours each week on average (with some users saving more than 10 hours each week!) If you figure a average fully burdened annual employee salary (including wages, benefits, time off, insurance, etc.) of $100,000 a year or $48 an hour, in this case DAM is saving $6,714.24 per user every year.
Now this might be starting to sound like a sales pitch, but I’m actually curious to ask our DAM Learning Center visitors – how much time do you think you save with DAM? If you’re not currently using DAM, how much time do you think you could save? Let me know in the comments section.
In a way, your question is like “preaching to the choir.” Choir being we who work on dams and already know that cost savings based for most part on time savings is the currency of the realm. You really need to ask this question of the congregation – users of dams not we who implement them.
I think that the answer just depends on the environment and the kind of user. Ex:in an ad agency, I expect that a graphic artist would save a lot of more time than copywriter. Maybe.
